CLOGAU GOLD has seen turnover rise by almost 20% after opening new stores across the country.
The North Wales jewellery firm has a blueprint for high street success and plans to unveil four more units in 2020.
That will take their total number of boutiques to 15, bucking the trend in town centres across the UK.
This combined with an increase in sales online means Managing Director Ben Roberts and the team are preparing for a very happy Christmas.
Ben is targeting a further 20% boost in revenue next year and will employ more staff, adding to their 150-strong workforce.
Fresh product lines including Tree of Life® Insignia and the 1854 gold blend range have played their part in making Clogau’s 30th anniversary one to remember, and he is confident the future looks even brighter.
“We are achieving success on the high street while others are sadly struggling, but a lot of that is down to the experience we provide, as well as the timeless collections of Welsh gold we produce,” said Ben.
“Going into retail after focusing heavily online was a steep learning curve for us, but we have worked hard to make it a success and chosen locations that fit well with the brand and our identity.
“Airline and cruise ship partnerships have also seen us grow significantly in an industry which has experienced major challenges this year, so of course we are thrilled and would like to thank our customers for their support.”
The Clogau Christmas advertisement and marketing campaign is now underway, celebrating the organisation’s journey from 1989 to the present day, and encouraging supporters on social media to follow and use the #somegiftsmeanmore hashtag.
As the company enters its busiest trading period, Ben says the focus is on achieving even greater levels of success over the next 30 years.
“There are incredible new lines ready for release in 2020, including two items that were created by employees in our stores,” he said.
“We asked staff to come up with some designs of their own and the results were amazing, showing how much the brand means to them and that it belongs to all of us.”
Ben added: “We are particularly looking forward to our annual conference in January as it’s an opportunity for us to celebrate a record-breaking Christmas and lay out our strategy for 300 stockists in 2020.
“That’s a big part of the vision, and another area we are growing all the time.”
With most recent stores in Carmarthen, Swansea, Bangor and Llandudno performing well, the royal favourite – Welsh gold was used in the wedding rings of Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana, Catherine Middleton, Meghan Markle, and Princess Eugenie – is enjoying a sparkling era.
“We don’t take this growth for granted, we have a direction for the company and total focus on continuing to produce beautiful, unique jewellery with a story behind it,” said Ben.
“And further expansion means we are creating more jobs, supporting the Welsh economy and having a positive impact on communities.”
He added: “Clogau Gold has enjoyed a remarkable 30 years, rich in history and tradition; we have never swayed from our values and I believe that’s why people continue to buy our jewellery – they are at the heart of everything we do.”
