DRIFT Radio is marking its fifth anniversary with a major milestone as the community dance and electronic music station launches on DAB+ digital radio along the North Wales coast.
The move signals an exciting new chapter for the unique Rhyl-based station and means even more people can tune in and enjoy its eclectic mix of music and club culture.
Drift will continue streaming online, via its dedicated mobile app and through smart speakers by saying “Play Drift Radio” and with the addition of DAB+ makes it easier to discover and connect with the station “at home, in the car or on the move”.
Drift began with a simple idea: to create a radio station that reflects the energy and creativity of the coast.
Since its launch, Drift has founded a new company with a dedicated management team and a loyal audience across coastal North Wales. Known for its specialist evening shows and popular live events Drift has become a platform for DJs, producers and fans of electronic music to share their passion.
“We’re incredibly proud to be marking five years of Drift with our move onto DAB+,” said Kevin Wright, one of the station’s founders.
“When we started there was nothing quite like this for our community. Drift gives people who love dance and electronic music a place to connect and be heard. By joining DAB+ we can share that same energy and entertainment with even more people across North Wales.”
Presenter Mark Cava added: “Drift’s growth so far has been incredible. I love how the station connects with the North Wales community and brings people together through music. It provides a professional platform where people of all abilities are supported to develop and succeed.”
Alongside the DAB+ launch, Drift has introduced a new mobile app to make it even easier for listeners to stay connected. The app lets users listen live, check the DJ schedule, keep up with events and chat with others in real time.
Drift’s growth has been supported by Alison Carter at Denbighshire Voluntary Services Council (DVSC), who has provided valuable guidance and advice. Drift were also awarded a grant from the Denbighshire Key Fund, which has helped to support the station’s transition to DAB+.
As part of this new chapter, Drift is also inviting local businesses and organisations to get involved through a range of sponsorship and partnership opportunities.
With flexible packages available, the station is keen to collaborate across different sectors — from hospitality and events to education and technology — to build lasting relationships and strengthen its role at the heart of the community.
Listeners can tune in to Drift Radio on DAB+ across the North Wales coast, online at www.drift.radio or through the Drift Radio app on mobile devices.
