Moonwalking Rhyl mums raising money for breast cancer charity

Two mums will be pounding the pavements of London in their bras for a walking marathon in aid of breast cancer charities.

Kelly Williams and Jayne Broster, both from Rhyl are taking on the 26.2 mile Moonwalk while getting in the groove with this year’s disco theme.

The annual event on May 11 is in its 22nd year and sees thousands gather to take on the feat around the capital throughout the night, with their bras blinged up for the occasion.

All money raised goes towards research into secondary cancers and supporting those with the diesase.

Jayne, 56 who runs Forget Me Not furniture and gift shop said: “This will be my third Moonwalk. I decided to sign up after my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer.

“After losing her, I’ve continued to do the walk in her memory.

“It’s always an amazing and emotional experience, but it’s lovely to see so many people walking together in the fight against breast cancer.”

First time Moonwalker and mum-of-two, Kelly, 36 added: “Training has been really hard but it’s nothing compared to what people suffering with cancer have to go through.

“Everyone knows someone affected by this disease so the more we can do to stamp it out, the better.

“We’re ready for the blisters and swollen ankles, the laughs, sweat and tears.

“Our bras will be blinged up and ready to bring disco to the streets of London.”

Founder of Walk the Walk, and organiser of The MoonWalk London, Nina Barough CBE, said: “Every MoonWalk is not just a walk. It is an experience that has been exciting and enthusing people for years and it just keeps getting better and achieving more.

“I never cease to be amazed by the thousands of inspirational walkers, women, men and our younger walkers, that come together and united aim of wanting to see everyone have a life after breast cancer.”
